We went to San Francisco recently to visit family.  The ride from the airport into the city to our hotel was totally terrifying.  He went so fast and came so close to other cars on the multilane highway ...I thought surely in the city he would slow down.  But he didn't.  We arrived on a Saturday night...a lot of people out and about on the streets and sidewalks near our hotel.  You should have seen the looks on their faces as he did a dramatic U-turn on the street.  He grabbd the basic fare and ran.  I'm amazed he didn'r run down a pedestrian.  I learned later that San Francisco cabs are often exciting in that way!
